Pay-what-you-think at C venues
In the courtyard surroundings of the ibis South Bridge, we offer audiences and performers ‘pay-what-you-think’: a new initiative to support artists and audiences alike. Participants wanting to be part of the world’s greatest arts festival can perform in the heart of Edinburgh, just off the Royal Mile, without breaking the bank.
C soco at ibis
Welcome to a venue like no other. This festival oasis in the heart of the city combines tented performance space and courtyard bar and barbecue with the sumptuous ibis Hotel restaurant and bar and an late-night indoor cabaret space. With everything from family shows and children’s activities to grown-up storytelling, performance poetry, music, cabaret and comedy, Festival goers of all ages are sure to find something to enjoy.
In the heart of Edinburgh and less than a minute from the Royal Mile, C soco at Ibis has the perfect location with entrances from Cowgate, South Bridge and Chambers Street, right next to and accessible from the main C venue at Adam House. The performance space is in the major pedestrian thoroughfare from Chambers Street to Cowgate and is ideal for passing crowds.
Basic stage lighting and stage sound systems. The spaces are open to the public, who may come and go during the performance, and there may be some background noise from around the venue. Please note that due to the temporary nature of the venue, space for changing and storage of costumes, sets and props is limited. If your technical needs are more complex or you need quiet or a blackout for your show, you may wish to consider one of our studio theatre performance spaces.
Pay what you think
Performances are unticketed and audiences are invited to give an appropriate donation at the end of the performance. Our hire fee for the performance space, to cover our costs, is a small fixed fee paid in advance, plus a percentage of audience donations. The standard Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society programme registration fee applies.
